Monday, October 2                       Babywearing Railroad Park Playdate

We're kicking off the week with a relaxing playdate in the park! Bring your kiddos and meet by the playground for a fun morning of exploring the park and riding the train. Pack a picnic lunch if you like!

We will also be debuting our tile fundraiser through As You Wish. Paint a tile for $14 ($10 for additional tiles) and pick it up at the Babywearing Fair on October 7th. You can get started on holiday gifts and support our group at the same time!

Wednesday, October 4                 Babywearing Hikes

9AM - 12PM 

Location: Thunderbird Conservation Park
Trail name: Flatlander
Approximate distance: 1.1 mi
Difficulty level: Easy

Description of hike: We will do Flatlander (1.1 mi) first, then have the option to do Arrowhead Point/Coachwhip portion (1.2 mi) if we are feeling adventurous. The Flatlander trail is mostly flat dirt and can accomodate an all terrain stroller. Walking toddlers/older kiddos are usually good with this one and there is lots for them to explore!

How to get there: From I-17, take the Pinnacle Peak Exit and go west. From the 101, take 59th Ave exit and go north on 59th Ave, following it as it curves through the mountains. Turn south into the lot at the light at 55th Ave on Pinnacle peak.

Where to park: In the lot to the south of the intersection at 55th Ave and Pinnacle Peak.
Where to meet: At the ramada just south of the parking lot.

International Babywearing Week is October 1st through October 7th and we are having events across the valley. All events are FREE unless otherwise specified.  We will have some volunteer babywearing educators at the events if you have babywearing questions, but we will not have our library of carriers with us.

East Valley - Silly Mountain

Please remember to wear proper sun protection and comfortable closed-toed shoes. Bring plenty of water and snacks.

Glendale - Thunderbird Conservation Park


Location: Silly Mountain
Approximate distance: 2.4 mi
Difficulty level: Moderate

Description of hike: We will do a loop hike which begins with a short uphill section, comes to a low summit with a great view, and then continues downhill through pretty desert scenery. After the hike, we can wander through the easy and interesting Silly Mountain Botanical Gardens.

How to get there: Take the US 60 East past Mountain View Rd. You will pass the mountain and need to take the next U-turn spot and go back to Silly Mountain Rd. Alternately, you can turn north onto Mountain View Rd, east onto 32nd Ave., and south on Silly Mountain Rd.

Where to park: Park in the gravel lot at the base of the trail.
Where to meet: At the low wall inside of the barbed wire fence.
